Description
Decorative royal icing for St. Patrick’s Day cookies.
Ingredients

- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 egg white or 2 tablespoons meringue powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- Water as needed
- Gel food coloring (green, gold)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix powdered sugar with egg white or meringue powder.
- Add cream of tartar and mix until smooth.
- Add water a little at a time to achieve desired consistency.
- Divide icing into separate bowls and color as desired.
- Use piping bags to decorate cookies.
Notes
- Use a stiff icing for outlines and a thinner icing for filling in.
- Let the icing dry completely before stacking cookies.
