Description

Delicious cinnamon rolls made using sourdough discard.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups sourdough discard
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tbsp milk (for icing)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine sourdough discard, milk, sugar, melted butter, and egg.
  2. Add flour, yeast, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5-10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle.
  6. Spread brown sugar and cinnamon over the dough.
  7. Roll the dough tightly and cut into slices.
  8. Place rolls in a greased baking dish and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes.
  10. Mix powdered sugar and milk to create icing and drizzle over warm rolls.
