Description
Delicious cinnamon rolls made using sourdough discard.
Ingredients

- 2 cups sourdough discard
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tbsp milk (for icing)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine sourdough discard, milk, sugar, melted butter, and egg.
- Add flour, yeast, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 5-10 minutes until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle.
- Spread brown sugar and cinnamon over the dough.
- Roll the dough tightly and cut into slices.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes.
- Mix powdered sugar and milk to create icing and drizzle over warm rolls.
Notes
- Use fresh sourdough discard for best results.
- Adjust cinnamon and sugar to taste.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
