Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 2 cups whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in vanilla extract.
  6. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  7. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk.
  8. Fold in sliced strawberries.
  9. Pour the batter into prepared pans and smooth the tops.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  11. Let the cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.
  12. Once cooled, spread whipped cream between the layers and on top of the cake.

Notes

  • Decorate with additional strawberries if desired.
  • Can substitute other fruits for a different flavor.
