- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Alternately add dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
- Divide batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Frost and decorate as desired.

- You can add food coloring to the batter for a colorful effect.
