Instructions

  2. In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time.
  4. Mix in lemon zest, lemon juice, and vanilla.
  5. Alternately add dry ingredients and buttermilk, starting and ending with flour.
  6. Divide batter into two bowls. Stir strawberry puree into one half.
  7. Pour batters into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  8. Cool cakes completely before assembling with frosting.
