Ingredients

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar

  • 3 to 4 tablespoons sugar for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. In another bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth.
  4. Add egg and vanilla to the butter mixture and blend well.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  6. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place on ungreased pans.
  7. Flatten each ball with the bottom of a glass, and sprinkle with sugar.
  8. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven.
  9. Let cool on wire racks.
