Ingredients

- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons chili flakes
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water (for cornstarch)
Instructions
- Combine sugar, 1/2 cup water, rice vinegar, chili flakes, garlic, and salt in a saucepan.
- Heat over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
- Mix cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water to create a slurry.
- Add the cornstarch slurry to the saucepan.
- Stir constantly until the sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat and let it cool.
Notes
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
- Adjust the chili flakes for desired spiciness.
- Use as a dipping sauce or in stir-fries.
