Description

A classic Swiss cheese fondue recipe for a rich and creamy cheese experience.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 200g Gruyère cheese
  • 200g Emmental cheese
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 300ml dry white wine
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon kirsch (cherry brandy)
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Freshly grated nutmeg
  • French bread, cut into cubes

Instructions

  1. Rub the inside of a fondue pot with garlic.
  2. In a separate pot, heat the wine and lemon juice over medium heat.
  3. Gradually add the grated cheeses, stirring until melted.
  4. Mix cornstarch with kirsch, then add to the cheese mixture.
  5. Continue stirring until smooth and bubbly.
  6. Season with pepper and nutmeg.
  7. Serve with bread cubes for dipping.

Notes

  • Use a good quality dry white wine.
  • Keep the fondue pot over low heat while serving.
  • Feel free to add other dippables like vegetables or cured meats.
