Ingredients

- 3 lbs beef brisket
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 large onions, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried thyme
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F.
- Season the brisket with salt and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
- Sear the brisket on both sides until browned, about 5 minutes per side.
- Remove the brisket and set aside.
- Add onions and garlic to the pot, cook until softened.
- Stir in balsamic vinegar, beef broth, brown sugar, and thyme.
- Return the brisket to the pot, cover, and bake for 3 hours.
- Slice the brisket against the grain and serve with onion sauce.
Notes
- For extra tenderness, cook the brisket for an additional 30 minutes.
- Let the brisket rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
