- 1 cup brewed espresso or strong coffee, cooled
- 1/4 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
- 1 package (7 oz) ladyfingers
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Cocoa powder, for dusting
- Dark chocolate shavings, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a shallow bowl, combine the brewed espresso and coffee liqueur. Set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Using an electric mixer, beat until soft peaks form.
- Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
- In serving cups, layer the dipped ladyfingers at the bottom, followed by a layer of the mascarpone mixture. Repeat the layers until the cups are full.
- Finish with a layer of the mascarpone mixture on top.
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld.
- Before serving, dust the tops with cocoa powder and garnish with chocolate shavings if desired.
Notes
- For a non-alcoholic version, simply omit the coffee liqueur.
- These cups can be made a day in advance for better flavor.
