  • 1 whole turkey (1214 lbs)
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups cranberry sauce
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes
  • 2 cups green beans
  • 1 cup gravy

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Prepare the turkey by removing the giblets and rinsing it.
  3. In a skillet, melt butter and sauté onion and celery until soft.
  4. Add bread crumbs, parsley, salt, and pepper to the mixture.
  5. Stuff the turkey with the bread mixture.
  6. Place the turkey in a roasting pan and cover it.
  7. Roast the turkey for about 3 hours, basting occasionally.
  8. Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (74°C).
  9. Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
  10. Serve with cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, green beans, and gravy.
