A delicious cake perfect for Valentine’s Day celebrations.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Red food coloring (optional)
- 1 cup cream cheese (for frosting)
- 2 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
- Fresh strawberries (for decoration)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in milk and vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
- If using, add red food coloring to achieve desired color.
- Pour batter evenly into prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- For frosting, beat cream cheese until smooth, then gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Once cakes are cooled, frost the top of one layer, place the second layer on top, and frost the top and sides of the cake.
- Decorate with fresh strawberries as desired.
Notes
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
- For a richer flavor, add cocoa powder for a chocolate version.
- Use heart-shaped cake pans for a festive touch.
