- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk
- For frosting: 1 cup butter, softened
- For frosting: 4 cups powdered sugar
- For frosting: 2 tsp vanilla extract
- For frosting: 2-3 tbsp heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans.
- Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Set aside.
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
- Mix in vanilla extract.
- Alternately add flour mixture and milk, beginning and ending with flour.
- Divide batter between pans. Bake 25-30 minutes until toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool cakes in pans 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.
- For frosting: Beat butter until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar.
- Mix in vanilla and heavy cream until fluffy.
- Frost cooled cake layers.

- Use room temperature ingredients for best results.
