Description
A creamy, homemade vanilla pudding topped with fresh fruit for a delightful dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup assorted fresh fruit
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, whisk together the milk, sugar, cornstarch, and salt until smooth.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat. Cook the mixture, stirring constantly, until it begins to thicken and comes to a gentle boil.
- Once boiling, continue to cook for an additional 1-2 minutes while stirring.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and butter until fully melted and incorporated.
- Pour the pudding into serving dishes or a large bowl. Cover with plastic wrap, pressing it directly onto the surface of the pudding to prevent a skin from forming.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or until set.
- Serve the vanilla pudding topped with fresh fruit.
Notes
- You can use any combination of fresh fruit based on your preference.
- For a richer flavor, consider using whole vanilla beans instead of extract.
