Description

These Viral Crème Brûlée Cookies take the classic dessert to a whole new level by combining the smooth, creamy custard flavor with a delightful cookie base, topped with a crunchy caramelized sugar layer that shatters with every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add in the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Scoop the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden but the center is still soft.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  8. Once cooled, drizzle the heavy cream over the cookies and sprinkle the additional granulated sugar evenly on top.
  9. Using a kitchen torch, carefully caramelize the sugar until it forms a golden, crispy layer. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For an extra touch, add a pinch of sea salt on top of the caramelized sugar for a sweet and salty contrast.
  • Make sure to use a kitchen torch for the best results when caramelizing the sugar.
  • Store any leftover cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
