Ingredients
Scale
- 12 mozzarella cheese sticks
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup marinara sauce (for dipping)
- 1/2 cup ranch or creamy dip (for dipping)
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Cut the mozzarella sticks in half if they are too long.
- Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Coat each mozzarella stick in flour, then dip in the beaten eggs, and finally roll in the breadcrumb mixture. Repeat for a double coating if desired.
- Place the coated sticks on a tray and freeze for 30 minutes to help them hold their shape while frying.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the mozzarella sticks in batches for about 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Serve immediately with marinara sauce and creamy dip.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, double-coat the mozzarella sticks.
- Freezing the sticks before frying prevents them from melting too quickly.
- You can bake them at 400°F (200°C) for 10-12 minutes if you prefer a healthier option.
