Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.
  4. Sift flour, cocoa, and salt together. Gradually stir into the butter mixture.
  5. Fold in walnuts if using. Spread batter evenly in the prepared pan.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool before cutting into squares.
